Unitree H1 Review (4★)
Unitree Robotics · Humanoid
Editorial
Unitree H1 is the value champion of the humanoid market. At under $90k, it's the only humanoid you can actually buy today without a multi-year enterprise contract. The 3.3 m/s speed record is legitimate and verified — this robot can actually run. But it's a mobility platform first, manipulator second. The 19 DoF and simple grippers mean it's not going to assemble circuit boards or handle delicate parts. For research, education, and locomotion-focused development, it's unbeatable. For commercial manipulation tasks, you'll need to wait for the H2 or integrate your own hands.
Pros
- 3.3 m/s walking speed is the world record for bipedal humanoids — verified on outdoor terrain
- Under $90,000 unit cost is 40-60% cheaper than any competitor humanoid
- M107 joint motors deliver 360Nm peak torque with excellent thermal management
- Open ROS2 interface allows third-party development and custom applications
Cons
- Only 19 DoF — significantly less than Optimus (34) or Figure 02 (31)
- 3-hour battery life limits deployment shifts
- Cycloidal gearboxes introduce backlash that affects precision manipulation
- Limited hand capabilities — comes with simple grippers, not dexterous hands
